Server Virtualization Technology
When it comes to problems that might appear in the server virtualization technology, one of the most often met problem is the appearance of the “All Eggs in the Same Basket” syndrome. This is happening due to one and only cause: the main servers are put into one single server.
In order to get the expected redundancy, servers should be put into at least 2 real pieces of hardware. This method offers one extremely effective advantage: if any of the virtual servers wrecks itself, the other servers can still function properly, cause it is easy to switch from one to another. Though, in the case of a single real server, if one of the other virtual servers goes down, all the others will go down as well.
This is why it is recommended to use at least 2 real servers. If the users need something more complex, the server virtualization technology methods can get a little bit more complicated. There will be needed at least 2 real severs to be synchronized with 2 logical servers. Even if this can not be called quite virtualization, but still a very effective method, it quite often used.
One of the latest methods to prevent the above syndrome is also related to server virtualization technology. In order to prevent the downtime of the server, someone hired especially for this, should synchronize the memory of one physical server with another one, which is being clustered with, in order to prevent downtime.
